Happy Halloween!

Today is Halloween … and yes I wanted to showcase great art today in a Halloween tradition … but I was not in the mood for something scary and frightening in a gory, Hollywood movie style but something more … full of personality and character … dark forests are terribly frightening … and one just never knows what the dark may hold to jump out and bite you.

This denizen of the forest does not appear full of bared teeth or weapons at the ready to main and kill … but if he appeared on a forest trail at night, my first reaction would be to scream loud enough to be heard 50 miles away and run for my life.

And why would that be? Would I not notice the twinkle in his eye? Or the humorous tilt of his mouth?

First impression because he is so different from me plus being so much larger than me - I would be terrified and unable to think clearly. Human nature … and for me, being scared of the dark … daytime would be easier for me to meet and greet this friendly forest citizen. Is he elf or faery? To me, he is kin to both being one of the Forest Folk.

Last night I was reading about Exoplanets / Extrasolar Planets. I had never heard the terms and since I had not been keeping up with the latest space discoveries, I had a very fascinating voyage of discovery last night.

Some Interesting Reading:
FIRST EXOPLANET IMAGE CONFIRMED!
Infant Stars Caught Feeding

I love space art and I have spent my entire life dreaming about visiting other planets and stars and seeing the Universe from a spaces ship … yeppers … I was one of those kids who watched Sputnik on TV and read every Science Fiction book on the Library shelf and bought the Superman comic books from the store with the money I got collecting and returning (soda) pop bottles back when they were glass bottles in Iowa.

Well … I’m not wealthy enough to go to space as a tourist so … guess I’m not going to get out there to see the world …. not in my lifetime … perhaps my grandson will go everywhere out there for me! :)

Since I do not get to go out there … I can enjoy the real pictures and artist renditions of outer space :) such as Josh Upham presents in his galleries. I cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is fantasy unless it is labeled … but it all inspires me to dream and fantasize about going while it inspires others to actually go out there!
