Dreams & Dreaming
Journey Dateline: August 5, 2007
Whether awake or asleep, dreams are fantasies - anything we can dream though - we can make a reality - if we so choose - it may not take the same course in life as the sleeping dream or the daydream but hopefully it will not become your worst nitemare either.
When relationships end … many people unconsciously feel in their hearts as if they have been robbed of their dreams and thus find it hard to move on in their lives - they are either unwilling to let go of the old dream to make room for a new dream, no matter how awful the reality might have been for them … and they do not know why they feel trapped by past relationships or stuck in the muck of an old relationship; or they refuse to dream new dreams because they feel as if their dreams betrayed them by not becoming what was dreamed.

If you let go of an old dream to make room for a new dream … you can move on in life to new places and partnerships … but while trying to recover and heal wounds … it is hard to trust any new dreams will bring a better life to you since you have concrete proof the old dream was a failure … most people score their life in black and white of success or failure with little to no gray area in between. We need to let ourselves know that every relationship … with ourselves or with others … are both successful and failures.
Sound harsh? Not really - moods, emotions … no one is happy, carefree and on top of the world every moment of every day … and thus the other end of the spectrum - very few people are miserable, unhappy and full of gloom and doom 24-7 either … that means we are successful in being happy sometimes and failing to be happy at other times while the rest of the time, we are somewhere in the middle between both extremes or a combination of both at the same time.
Chase your dreams into reality is good advice that someone once gave me many years ago - many times in my art career, I have felt as if I were chasing an unreachable illusion - yet I continue to follow that dream where it leads me and with each painting, I learn something new about me, about my art, and about where my art dream is leading me - I am finding that the journey following the dream is what is important to my development as an artist and the end result is that this is a never-ending dream walk through my life.
