Pirates

Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies has really put pirates back in the forefront of the world as a fantasy worth revisiting from my childhood memories of pretending to be pirates with wooden or plastic swords, eye patches and bandana handkerchiefs wrapped around my head.

I do not have one of the new wide screen HD or whatever type TV’s - I found out when the second movie came out that I cannot watch it at home - they only came out with a widescreen view … guess the rest of us were supposed to go to the movie theater to see it without knowing we would not be able to see it at home unless we bought a new TV or go visit someone to see it after it left theaters. I really do not like movie distribution choosing what I can see and what I cannot see at home.

I watched the first movie with my grandson at home … he had seen it at the movie theater of course - they go to lots of movies - I don’t. I have been waiting to see about buying a new TV until after I move - they are REALLY expensive and my TV in the living room works just fine and since I hardly ever watch it - it seems like an enormous expense for something I won’t use very much except for playing video games and watching movies with my grandson once a month or maybe twice a month.

I could easily go to my daughter’s house to watch it … but they are busy people and I don’t think they have had a lot of time to invite me over to watch the movie at their house … and it seems like a lot of trouble to me to arrange to go over there just to watch a movie and inconvenience them - if they had time or the inclination, they would invite me over to do so - and they haven’t .. they would make time if I asked … but I haven’t asked.

I really like the pirate ship and buccaneer ship and Viking ship kites - they would look great hung from a roof or second story window (I only have a one story house so not mine) to blow in the wind too! I could hang them from the cathedral ceiling of my living room though and let the ceiling fan move them around. Maybe it is time to buy new accent colored pillows & table scarves for the living room and redecorate with a colorful ship kite or two hanging from the ceiling - summer is a great time to think about making the house more summery feeling … and come next winter, it would keep the house bright & cheerful even on gloomy winter days.
